NB!
Packaging must be loosely placed in the container, ensuring that more will fit and sorting is easier.
Do not put different types of packaging into each other, it makes recycling them much more difficult.
Why and how to sort packaging?
Sorting and directing packaging waste for recovery will help save nature, as well as money.
By dumping packaging waste into landfills, together with other municipal waste, significant damage is caused to nature, as it takes hundreds of years for them to disintegrate and become soil, and even thousands of years for some types of packaging. Also, when you buy packaged products in a store, their handling fee is added to their price, and you have the right to get rid of packaging waste free of charge. Packaging waste is a valuable raw material for the production of different products and their reuse helps to save nature.
How clean is clean packaging?
Packaging waste does not need to be washed with excessive thoroughness, rinsing is sufficient. It is important that the packaging does not contain any foodstuffs, and if it is left to sit for a month before being emptied at the packaging collection point, it should not begin to smell. If the cleaning of foodstuffs from a particular type of packaging is difficult (for example, plastic packaging for milk or cream or the cardboard packaging for yogurt), the place for such soiled packaging is not in the packaging waste container.

How does the sorting of packaging waste take place in apartment associations?
TVO provides separate packaging waste collection services developed for apartment buildings. To this end, a 0.6 m3 container with a special opening is placed in the territory of the apartment association and is intended for use only by the residents of the apartment association. This container will be emptied according to the agreed emptying schedule.
Only household packaging waste that meets the conditions set out in the sorting manual is suitable for the container. Packaging must be placed in the container loosely. The collection truck must be ensured access to the collection container on the day of emptying. If the container is installed in a locked area, the service provider has the right to apply an unlocking fee to the apartment association. If the container contains significant amounts of rubbish or dirty packaging, the collection truck will not empty the container and the apartment association will have to pay for the unladen journey, according to the waste handler’s price list. In addition, the apartment association itself must take care to empty non-compliant waste from the packaging container or to re-sort the contents.
The rent and emptying of a properly used packaging container is FREE for the apartment association. To order the service, the apartment association must enter into a contract with the waste management company selected by TVO as a cooperation partner.
The service can be ordered HERE.
